ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran (KDPI) clashed in Nowdeshah and Paveh in the Kurdish province of Kermanshah in Iran on Saturday. The clash in Paveh is ongoing, according to the KDPI.

The IRGC announced earlier it had eliminated “a terrorist group” in Nowdeshah, Kermanshah province, according to Tasnim news agency. The IRGC claimed to have killed three fighters, and suffered one fatality.

“We cannot confirm the clash in Nowdeshah, but we are gathering more information,” Kawa Bahrami, a top KDPI military commander, told Rudaw English.

“There is an ongoing clash near Paveh in Kermanshah province. Our forces have killed two IRGC forces,” Bahrami added.

In the past week, two Kurdish members of the IRGC have been killed.

Since June, the KDPI and the IRGC have clashed several times. On June 23, one KDPI fighter and one IRGC member were killed during fighting in the border area of Piranshahr city.

The KDPI insurgency against the Islamic Republic was reignited after a ceasefire collapsed in 2015.
