American fashion designer chooses Erbil as her 120th destination

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - On Saturday, American model and fashion designer Megan Averbuch, visited Erbil as part of a journey around the world that took her to 119 other destinations before arriving in the Kurdish capital.

"The food is amazing, the culture is amazing, beautiful designs, and the Kurdish clothing is gorgeous," Averbuch said after visiting Erbil's downtown bazaar, stressing her excitement about being in the Kurdistan Region.

The American fashion designer expressed amazement at the richness of Kurdish culture including food, designs, and clothing.

"I wanna try everywhere. I really wanna to immerse myself in all of these different cultures. I wanna to see the world. I wanna to meet new people. I wanna understand your culture. I wanna understand your fashion. It is really special to me to have the opportunity to come here," she said, highlighting her feelings and outlining her plans.

With its rich culture, history, and tradition, the Region is a popular tourist destination.

The Kurdistan Regional Government’s (KRG) tourism board has announced that a record number of 4.5 million tourists have visited resorts across the Region since the start of this year.

With its relatively moderate temperature in comparison to the rest of the country and its tremendous nature, the Kurdistan Region’s tourism sector has witnessed a boom in recent years.

The KRG plans to attract 20 million tourists per year by 2030.
