ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The Kurdistan region presidency has released a statement condemning Monday's bombing in the southern Turkish town of Suruc.
“We condemn this inhumane and savage act,” said a statement released today by the presidency. “We wish recovery for the injured and convey our condolences and support to the families of the martyrs and our brothers and sisters in the north.”
“Martyring the citizens and carrying out savage acts is the sign of failure of the terrorists, who are against all humane and religious values,” continued the statement. “This will only strengthen our will to eradicate the terrorists.”
At least 28 people were killed and nearly 100 others wounded by a suicide bomber who detonated himself in a crowd of students at the cultural center of the Socialist Students Federation in the heavily Kurdish town of Suruc—called Pirsus in Kurdish—in southern Turkey near the Syrian border.
