ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—National security authorities said Saturday that they have arrested members of the Islamic State (ISIS) responsible for the recent bombings in Erbil and Kirkuk.

“After careful investigations we were able to arrest a number of terrorists in Kirkuk who were members of the ISIS,” said Kurdistan Region’s National Security Council in a statement.

The statement said that initial investigations have shown that the detainees were behind the bombing in Erbil last month that killed 5 police offers and injured many civilians, and a double bombing in Kirkuk last week that killed 21 people.
