US President Barack Obama has said that Republican frontrunner Donald Trump will not be president and he trusts the American people not to elect him because it's a “serious job”.
“I continue to believe that Mr Trump will not be president. And the reason is because I have a lot of faith in the American people,” said Obama.
“It's not hosting a talk show or a reality show, it's not promotion, it's not marketing, it's hard. It's not a matter of pandering and doing whatever will get you in the news on a given day.” he added.
Obama who was speaking at the ASEAN summit in California said that the US electorate will not elect Trump because they know that being president is a serious job.
Trump, a billionaire businessman, is his party’s frontrunner for the next US presidential elections.
For his part, Trump saw Obama’s criticism as a compliment.
He has caused much controversy during his election campaign, saying that Muslims in the US should be registered, banned from entering the country, and if elected president he will deport 11 million undocumented immigrants.
