ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Nearly 10,000 people have been arrested for suspected links to the Islamic State (ISIS), claimed the Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu.

“Turkey has foiled attempts of 10,000 individuals to join jihadi terror activity and the Islamic State armed group.

Turkey has an effective role in the international coalition against ISIS militants,” Cavusoglu said in a conference. “it is not about ulterior agendas of Turkey, but to establish a secured region north of Syria to place the refugees and displaced families.”

Cavusoglu said that Turkey would not remain silent before threats and would take every necessary measure in order to protect its own national security.

“Incirlik Air Base has not been used it, and the negotiation are still going on with the United States,”Cavusoglu added.
