A group of young women held a symbolic bike ride in the city of Amuda in Syrian Kurdistan, demonstrating against norms that see girls on bikes as immodest. Under the slogan “free community,” the girls, who call their group Newroz, or New Day, said they want to be able to ride their bikes anywhere they like.
