ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Islamic State (ISIS) group beheaded three of its own members in the countryside of Deir Ezzor in eastern Syria, where regime air raids have been trying to push back the militants, an exile monitoring group reported.

It said the three ISIS men were publicly beheaded by sword for “banditry” and “killing a man and throwing him in a well in order to steal his money,” the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) said. The executions took place in the town of Khasham.

Meanwhile, regime warplanes and helicopters were continuing raids in and around Deir Ezzor, including its air base, SOHR said, reporting barrel bombs dropped and casualties among the militants.

The monitoring group reported clashes between ISIS and the Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) in the countryside south of Tal Brak, with casualties on both sides.

ISIS fighters also clashed with YPG and rebel forces in the southern countryside of Tal Abyad and were advancing against the militants, SOHR said.

It reported regime air raids, including barrel bombs, in various parts of northern Aleppo province.
