ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Syrian regime warplanes and artillery bombed the predominantly Kurdish city of Hasaka in the northern part of the country on Thursday, killing and wounding several people and displacing many, reports said.
According to information obtained by Rudaw, the warplanes bombed the city's Mihlaj neighborhood and Hura bazaar.
Shortly afterwards, regime artillery units began shelling the city as well, forcing several families to flee the city.
A YPG official told Reuters that the bombardment had led to casualties among the civilians.
At least three bomb shelters belonging to the YPG in Hasaka were reportedly targeted.
The bombing follows clashes Thursday between the National Defense Forces (NDF) that are backed by the Syrian regime and the Kurdish security forces in Hasaka city.
