YPG advances in Hasaka

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region- The People's Protection Units known as the YPG have mobilized its forces to recapture the southeastern areas of  the Syrian Kurdish town of Hasaka. Fierce fighting  is currently ongoing  in some areas.
 
”The People's Protection Units have regained control over an International school and their forces advanced to control some areas inside Hasaka,” a YPG source told Rudaw.

The US-led coalition is supporting YPG by attacking Islamic State bases and positions.

The source added, “the YPG has been able to recapture Makeef district in southeastern neighborhood of Nashwa  and Hwjiarah village in Hasaka.”

The US-led coalition has carried out airstrikes in the south, east, and west of Hasaka. Coalition warplanes have halted the Islamic State (ISIS) in Shadadia town in Hasaka and carried out more airstrikes in Al-Zhour, East Nashwa, and Gweran against the positions of ISIS.

Hasaka was previously controlled by both YPG forces and the Syrian Army, each had control over different parts of the city
