ERBL, Kurdistan Region- The Islamic State’s (ISIS) war minister Omar al-Shishani is believed to be “clinically dead” days after it was reported that he was killed in an air strike in Syria.
“Shishani is not able to breathe on his own and is using machines. He has been clinically dead for several days,” said Rami Abdel Rahman, head of the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, according to AFP news agency.
Abdel Rahman said ISIS war minister is hospitalized in the ISIS capital of Raqqa province in northern Syria.
US defense officials said last week that al-Shishani was killed in an air strike in the town of Shaddadi.
Al-Shishani was a top ISIS commander who was posted to the Kobani front during the siege of the Kurdish city in 2014.
Shaddadi was recently taken from ISIS by Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) that includes a large number of the Kurdish Peoples Protection Units (YPG).
