ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Turkcell, a major Turkish telecommunications company, has installed a mobile communications tower in the Idlib countryside following the completion of the Turkish military’s observation posts running from Aleppo to Hama, a war monitor reports.

“This tower was installed to provide network coverage for the Turkish forces that are distributed at several observation posts in the countryside of Idlib,” the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported on Sunday.

Idlib, the last remaining area in Syria not under government control, is 67 kilometers (42 miles) southwest of Aleppo.

The observatory has monitored dozens of Turkish military vehicles transferring equipment through the Syrian-Turkish border area of Kafrluseen to the Turkish army base at Maarrat al-Nu’man, in the southern countryside of Idlib, and setting up observation posts.

Locals confirmed the telecommunications network covers large parts of the area from Aleppo to Hama, some 137 kilometers (85 miles) south, and that more towers will be erected in the coming days or weeks.
