ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—Two explosions hit a popular market in Sadr city, east of Baghdad on Friday, killing at least three and wounding eight, Baghdad’s operation command announced.
“Two terrorist attacks exploding improvised explosive devices (IEDs) targeted civilians in one of the popular markets in Sadr city,” the operation command said.
A member of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior confirmed in a press statement, “Two IEDs exploded simultaneously near Qayyara market in Sadr city, east of Baghdad, killing three and wounding 8 others.”
Police forces rushed to the locations and established a restricted security perimeter. Ambulances took the wounded to nearby hospitals.
