ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — The Iraqi Defense Ministry said in a statement 55 ISIS militants, including two suicide bombers, were killed Wednesday by Iraqi airstrikes in rural areas of Anbar province.

“The Eagle Cells of the Iraqi Defense Ministry successfully hunted down 23 ISIS militants in the town of Hit in western Anbar,” the statement said.

The statement added that Iraqi aircraft launched an airstrike on ISIS fortifications and positions in Hit, killing two suicide bombers.

Hit lies northwest of the Anbar provincial capital Ramadi and is on the Euphrates River.

According to the statement, Iraqi aircraft in a separate airstrike killed an additional 30 ISIS militants in the extremist held-town of Fallujah.
