Rudaw correspondent Hevidar Ahmed visited the Qayara frontline on Wednesday. His camera team zoomed in on the town as an intense battle was going on between the Iraqi army and Islamic State (ISIS) for its control.

As seen in the video, ISIS has blown up the bridge to stop the army from further advance. Very little traffic could be seen. Sources inside Qayara confirmed to Rudaw that many families have fled and the remaining ones are expected to flee, too.

ISIS has set oil wells on fire to avoid airstrikes. The militants have taken positions inside homes and buildings. While, on the other side the army is on alert and gearing up for a final assault on the town.
