ERBIL, Kurdistan Region- Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi said in a press release Wednesday that categorizing Muslims and extremists together is an insult to Islam and all Muslims, adding that the religion believes in coexistence and respect for all religions.

Abadi criticized Donald Trump’s recent comments on Muslims and said: “At a time when all countries of the world have realized the risk of extremist ideology and how it offers sanctuary to terrorism that threatens everyone, without exception, and the need to fight it and eradicate its roots, irresponsible remarks and more extreme were made such as those recently issued by Donald Trump who is trying to win the nomination for election to the US presidency.”

Abadi said the international community's efforts must be stronger than ever in order to foster a spirit of peaceful coexistence, isolate terrorism, preserve religious freedom and reject extremism in all its forms and manifestations.
