ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – The Islamic State (ISIS) has executed five Iraqi soldiers, including two officers with the rank of colonel, military sources said.
"ISIS elements executed Colonel Khudair Sharif al-Hadidi, media spokesman of the Second Division of the Iraqi army Colonel Mazhar Younis al-Bayati and three other soldiers at the Ghazlani camp south of Mosul," said Brigadier Haseeb Maaroof.
He said all five were shot dead and their bodies transferred to the Mosul morgue.
The soldiers were under ISIS detention since the militants took control of Mosul in June.
