ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — Four Iraqi soldiers were killed and at least 23 others wounded in an Islamic State (ISIS) attacked on their base near Makhmour Thursday morning, a Kurdish Peshmerga source said.
Troops of the 15th division of the Iraqi army were the target of the ISIS rocket attack.
Katyusha rockets were use in the attack, according to the Peshmerga source.
More than 1,500 Iraqi soldiers were deployed to the Makhmour region last month to join a coalition-led operations command with the Kurdish Peshmerga for an upcoming Mosul operation.
