BAGHDAD - Two planted bombs in Baghdad’s Madaein and Abu Ghraib districts killed four and wounded 13 on Wednesday, an interior ministry source said.
“A planted bomb went off near a sports arena in the Madaein district, south of Baghdad, killing two people. Nine more were injured,” the source told Rudaw.
Another bomb killed two people and wounded four in the Abu Ghraib district, west of Baghdad, according to the source.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility.
Suicide attacks and car bombings have increased in Baghdad since the recent political tumult in the capital, which saw angry protesters storm the parliament building a month ago, demanding substantial political reforms to uproot corruption.
Authorities blame the Islamic State group (ISIS) for these attacks. Combining car bombs with suicide attackers is a preferred tactic of the militant group, which routinely targets Shiites, militiamen and civilians alike.
