The fate of Saddam’s palaces under Hashd al-Shaabi

Many of Saddam Hussein’s former palaces have now become bases for the Shiite Hashd al-Shaabi forces, particularly in Saladin province for the former ruler had built some of his most glamorous palaces.

 

One Hashd commander believes that all traces of Hussein should be erased because he was “a tyrant” and showed no one any mercy.

 

The Shiite militia fought hard in 2014-15 to retake this city from ISIS militants.
