Coalition air strikes destroy ISIS money, weapons and tunnels in Iraq and Syria

ERBIL,Kurdistan Region- A wave of coalition air strikes against the Islamic State (ISIS) in Iraq and Syria in the last two days have destroyed millions of dollars in cash and a number of weapons and ammunition depots.

“At least 26 airstrikes were carried out in the last 24 hours  in both Iraq and Syria by the international coalition to fight the Islamic State,” the US department of defense said in a press release Monday.

Two 900 kg bombs on a cash storage in Mosul destroyed millions of dollars ISIS had gained from oil smuggles and other illegal trade, the US military said.

In Syria, the air strikes targeted and destroyed a number of underground tunnels and vehicles in Raqqah, Mara, Ayn Isa,and Dayr Az Zawr.

In Iraq coalition aircraft supported the Iraqi forces in attacking ISIS ammunition depots in Haditha,Hit, Kiski, Qayyarah and Ramadi.

Monday’s strikes are believed to be the biggest bombing of ISIS warehouses and facilities in Iraq and Syria in weeks.
