KRG condemns death of Kurdish lawyer

ERBIL, Kurdistan Region- The Kurdistan Region Presidency officially condemned  the murder of Taher Elci in a statement on its official web-site.
 
Elci was a prominent pro-Kurdish lawyer who was shot dead on Saturday in Turkey’s predominantly Kurdish southeastern city of Diyarbakir.
 
“We condemn the killing of Taher Elci and we offer our sincere condolences to his family, relatives and friends,” the statement read. “We want the detention of the murderers  as soon as possible.”
 
The statement went on to call the incident a threat to social peace and appealed for the prevention of such violence in the future.
