ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Two Peshmerga commanders were killed by ISIS mortars on the Khazir front on Thursday.
“Thursday evening, as a result of an ISIS mortar in Mufti Village on the Khazir front, Peshmerga commander Luqman Chamchamali and another officer were killed,” Lieutenant Colonel Sabah Abbas Glejali told Rudaw. He later confirmed that First Lieutenant Salar Hama Saeed was the second officer killed.
“Another four Peshmerga were wounded by the shelling,” Glejali said.
Glejali added that the situation on the front was safe and stable and they had responded forcefully to the ISIS militants.
In May, Peshmerga on the Khazir front, 60 km west of the Kurdistan Region’s capital city of Erbil, recaptured nine villages from the Islamic State.
