A twin bomb attack on Friday at the Kurdish New Year celebrations in Syria's ethnically Kurdish area of Hasakah reportedly left 35 dead and more than 150 wounded.
Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani condemned the attacks on Saturday in a public letter to the people of Hasaka.
“While I strongly condemn the terrorist’s brutal assault, we want them to know their brutal acts further unite the Kurdish nation and make them stronger in the fight against terrorism and the enemies of humanity,” he said.
He expressed his sympathy with the family of martyrs and wished a quick recovery to all those injured.
UN chief Ban ki-moon has also condemned the assault on Friday, calling it a “heinous” attack on Syrian Kurds.
