ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Hundreds of jihadists, including high-ranking terrorist leaders, were released from a Ramadi prison when the city was captured by the Islamic State group, an Anbar security source told Rudaw.

“All of the 400 prisoners were affiliated with ISIS militias, including fighters and some dangerous leaders who have been previously held captive by Iraqi security forces in Ramadi,” the source said Monday on condition of anonymity.

In a series of propaganda images released Monday via social media, ISIS fighters are shown celebrating the release from prison.
