The city of Dersim commemorated the 77th anniversary of the death of Seyid Riza, a Kurdish leader who staged a revolution against the Turkish republic in its early days.

Seyid Riza was captured by the Turkish army and following a show trial, he was sentenced to death and executed at the age of 75.
He was buried in an unknown location.

Seyid Riza is one the most revered Kurdish revolutionaries. He is featured in folk songs, poetry and Kurdish literature.
