ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Two Peshmerga soldiers were killed and three wounded in an attack in an Islamic State (ISIS) suicide attack early Sunday on the Khazir frontline, said Hameed Afandi, an official in charge of the Bashiqa frontline.
ISIS forces launched several attacks early Sunday on Peshmerga frontlines in Gwer, Khazir and Bashiqa.
A Kurdish military source in Bashiqa told Rudaw that “ISIS launched an attack on the Peshmerga with artillery and BKC (light machine guns) and the Peshmerga responded forcefully. Fighting there still continues.”
At 5 am on Sunday, ISIS attacked the Peshmerga in Kanhasha village, but the fighting lasted only for an hour, sources said. There were no casualties among the Peshmerga in that clash.
