Tens of thousands of Kurdish Peshmerga soldiers are expected to join the imminent Mosul offensive.

The Peshmerga ministry has sent troops, artillery and heavy weaponry to some of the fronts closest to Mosul.

Based on an agreement between Erbil and Baghdad, Peshmerga troops will assist Iraqi troops in their drive into Mosul to reclaim it from it ISIS two years after it overran the city.

Kurdish President Masoud Barzani said in a statement on Saturday that Erbil and Baghdad have agreed on a joint commission to oversee the situation in Mosul after its liberation.
