A number of Peshmerga soldiers of the Kurdistan Socialist Party have arrived on the Khazir front ahead of the anticipated Mosul battle.

They are led by Mohammed Haji Mahmood, known as Kaka Hama.

“Peshmerga forces of the Socialist Democratic Party have been on the frontlines since day one, defending the sacred land of Kurdistan as a steel shield,” said Kaka Hama in a Facebook post.

Kaka Hama said his men had come to fight alongside all other Kurdish forces against ISIS in the coming offensive.

“On this path, many leaders and Peshmerga dedicated their lives for Kurdistan and joined their fallen comrades.” Kaka Hama told his Peshmerga.

He has been leading a major force against ISIS south of Kirkuk for the past two years.

His son Atta was killed in an ISIS attack in November 2014.
