ERBIL, Kurdistan Region — A huge explosion targeting security forces and fighters from the Kurdish Peoples' Protection Units (YPG) killed at least 16 people, including civilians, Tuesday in the embattled Syrian city of Hasaka.

A car bomb set off at 11 am in Hasaka’s Sabah neighborhood at a checkpoint jointly run by security forces and the YPG.

As a result of the attack, at least 13 civilians and three fighters were killed, according to a Rudaw correspondent.

Previous twin attacks shook Hasaka on Monday, and killed and wounded dozens of people.

In the above Rudaw footage, security forces are investigating the scene of the Tuesday attack.
