ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Peshmerga forces killed four Islamic State (ISIS) militants and wounded seven in clashes on Mount Shingal, the Kurdish commander there said.
“In clashes yesterday (Saturday) when ISIS militants attacked to destroy the Shekh Hassan shrine on the Shingal Mountain, we fiercely repulsed their attacks, killing four militants and wounding seven,” said Ashti Kochar, the Peshmarga commander on the mountain.
“Three of the ISIS militants, alongside with their leader, came to bomb the shrine of Sheikh Hassan,” Kochar said. “But we killed them and the ISIS transported seven of their wounded to the city of Ba’aj in Syria,” he added.
One Peshmerga soldier was wounded in the fighting.
