Peshmerga liberated the town of Bashiqa this week and they soon started hunting down ISIS militants hiding inside tunnels or some of the homes they had turned into bases.
Some militants tried to break cover and escape but they were ambushed by the Kurdish forces while others were killed inside the homes after intense firefight.
More than 10 militants were killed in one day alone while trying to escape.
Rudaw’s Hevidar Ahmed spent a day with the Kurdish forces in Bashiqa and sent this video report on their efforts to secure the city following its liberation.
