Kurdish Peshmerga on the Kirkuk frontline say operations against the so-called Islamic State have become static for the last two weeks since the beginning of the Iraqi army’s assault on Tikrit.
The Peshmerga added they will only move further against ISIS under orders from higher authorities, and that any offensive on Hawija would need to be led by the Iraqi army and Shia militias, commonly referred to in Arabic as Hashd al-Shaabi.
