Two young Kurdish Yezidi women were returned to their families Sunday in the Kurdistan region after 11 months in the captivity of ISIS in Syria.
Rudaw accompanied one of the young women, a 14-year old, to the Kadia refugee camp where her tearful mother was expecting her.
"I thought I’d never see her again. But today, this afternoon, I got the news," the mother said in the video.
"I’m very happy now. She has no father or bothers to welcome her home."
ISIS released the woman in return for cash. Her relatives are now seeking help from Kurdish officials.
"I single-handedly raised $ 16,000 in order to set her free," said a relative.
"Where can I get that money from? Without the help of a kind person, I won’t be able to pay off that amount of money."
