ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Warplanes bombed Mount Asos near Mawat of Sulaimani province Sunday morning, the local mayor said.
Members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Iranian Kurdish Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) are believed to have bases in the area.
The bombings coincided with an announcement from the Turkish military that their air force had bombed several PKK positions in northern Iraq including Abashin, Basian and Khuakurk

“It remains unclear whether the jets were Turkish or Iranian,” Kamaran Hassan, mayor of Mawat town in Sulaimani told Rudaw.
Hassan added since early in the morning the jets bombed the area at least three times.Members of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) and Iranian Kurdish Kurdistan Free Life Party (PJAK) are believed to have bases in the area.
Mayor Hassan added the it was the first such bombings that were taking place in his area.

There was no immediate confirmation or denial of the attacks by the PJAK nor PKK.
Mount Asos in Mawat town in Sharbazher region, is 55 kilometers from Sulaimani.
