Rudaw:

The Kurdish President has decided to hold a referendum for independence of the Kurdistan Region.  What is Russia's point of view on that, and if Kurdistan implements this plan, how would Russia respond to it?

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova:

"About referendum, as you know this is something that belongs to countries themselves and the decisions of their nations, and considering a Kurdish state, we do support Kurdish permanent and legitimate rights in this regard and in the context of those nations who are ready to make their destiny. This is the Russian opinion in that regard."
