ERBIL, Kurdistan Region – Turkish jets bombed villages in Amedi, Duhok province on Saturday night, according to residents.
Ramzi, whose village of Sargali was among those hit, told Rudaw the warplanes bombed the area three times.
News of casualties and the extent of the damage are currently unknown.
The sound of planes and regular bombing has instilled fear in the region’s villagers, Ramzi said.
The Amedi area is located roughly 70 kilometers north of Erbil.
Turkish strikes have killed several civilians, forced farmers and shepherds off their lands, and caused wildfires.

Turkey frequently carries out strikes on alleged Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) positions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. Earlier last year, Turkey launched a ground operation targeting the PKK’s Qandil mountains headquarters.
