KIRKUK, Kirkuk province — Unknown gunmen have assassinated the chief of pipeline maintenance for the North Oil Company (NOC) and his driver in Kirkuk province.
“Today on July 31, at around 7:30 am, Saad Ali Hussein, the chief of NOC pipeline maintenance, and his driver, Salih Jaduw Zedanm, were gunned down in Kirkuk,” Brigadier General Sarhad Qadir, the chief of Kirkuk suburban police, told Rudaw.
“Hussein and his driver were killed in Payij town in Kirkuk. The victims were in their white Dodge Durango vehicle. The police have commenced investigations in the case in order to find the killers,” added Qadir.
The NOC is an Iraqi state-owned company with its operations based in Kirkuk province. The company has been active in extracting and exporting oil from the Kurdistan region for the past century.
