The once thriving village of Khursabad east of Mosul now resembles a military base for the heavy presence and destruction it went through under ISIS.

Khursabad is near Bashiqa, a town that saw some of the heaviest fighting between ISIS and the Kurdish Peshmerga forces in late October.

Three families have returned to this village since its liberation but most remain reluctant for lack of services and the many bombs and explosives still lying around.
