"Local forces have been left with too many tasks and duties in the recaptured areas. They need help taking care of former residents coming back to the region, offering services, and stabilizing the areas,” the Iraqi Ministry of Defense said in the statement.
In the past, military trainers have also assisted Kurdish Peshmerga forces, according to the Dutch Ministry of Defense, adding that no military personnel from the Netherlands will be involved in fighting on the ground.
