“Saudi Arabia is a strong economy in the Middle East and the Kurdistan Region is only beginning. But we haven’t yet seen strong trade ties between the two countries,” Shammari said in an interview with Mohammed Shekh Fatih.

“I believe a meeting like this one will be the start of future projects and we saw great interest from the prime minister and his ministers and the presence of many businessmen was proof that there will hopefully be giant investment projects here.”

In addition to business investments, boosting trade through re-opening border crossings between Iraq and Saudi Arabia and opening branches of Saudi banks in Erbil and Baghdad.
