ERBIL, Kurdistan Region—Islamic State has issued a news release claiming to have carried out a suicide attack on a police station in the town of Kubaysah, in Iraq’s Anbar province, killing over 50 police officers and soldiers.

According to the terrorist group’s statement, four ISIS militants attacked the station; two detonated their explosives and two returned to ISIS headquarters.

Rudaw has been unable to independently confirm ISIS’ claim.

Kubaysah is located 200 kilometres northwest of Baghdad. Iraqi forces retook the town from ISIS in late March.
