BRUSSELS, Belgium – The president of the European Parliament (EP) is meeting with a selected number of global media, including the Rudaw Media Network, which is participating as the only Kurdish media at Tuesday’s meeting in Brussels.

For the first time, the EP will directly meet and coordinate with journalists around the World.

The two-day meeting for greater cooperation between the European Parliament and global members of the European News Exchange (ENEX) -- including Rudaw -- will focus on relations between the media and politics.

The latest global news also will be discussed.

Illegal migration to Europe and registration of refugees, Britain’s status and its future in the EU and the Panama Paper’s scandal will be part of the discussions. EP President Martin Schulz will meet with participants for two days.

Rudaw’s European Operations chief Sabir Yasin and reporter Zinar Shinoey will represent the media network at the meeting.

Founded in 1993, ENEX’s more than 50 members exchange content such as daily news videos and other exclusive footage and the association makes satellite capacity accessible to all its members. Rudaw has been a member since 2015.

According to the ENEX website, the members of the network contribute more than 30,000 news items per year to the content exchange that is facilitated by the Coordination Center in Luxembourg and has an audience of 100 million.
