New US troops may boost Syrian Kurds

WASHINGTON DC - This week’s decision by President Barack Obama to send 250 additional troops to Syria is likely to bolster the position of the Kurdish forces in the country, Rudaw reports from The Pentagon.

The decision -- coming days after pro-Kurdish YPG fighters confronted the forces of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad -- could safeguard Kurds from becoming targets for bigger powers such as Syria (and Turkey).

Rudaw’s Namo Abdullah reports from Washington DC.
