Davos: PM Barzani builds on ‘excellent’ Kurdistan-Jordan ties with King Abdullah II

DAVOS, Switzerland — KRG Prime Minister Nechirvan Barzani met on Wednesday with King Abdullah II of Jordan to strengthen bilateral relations on the sidelines of the WEF in Davos. 

"I met His Majesty King Abdullah of Jordan in Davos today," tweeted Barzani. " I reiterated my wish to further strengthen the already excellent relations and long-standing friendship between the Kurdistan Region and Jordan."

He is set to meet with UN Deputy Secretary Amina J. Mohammed and the Prime Minister of Armenia later on Wednesday, Rudaw has learned regarding the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) premier’s attendance at the World Economic Forum.

On Tuesday night, Barzani joined other leaders at the formal reception dinner for Davos attendees.

The Kurdish PM is accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Qubad Talabani and other officials.

Barzani said on Monday, in a press conference in Erbil after his return from Iran, that he would meet Iraqi Prime Minister Haider al-Abadi on the sidelines of the forum in Davos, for a second time in a week.

Barzani added they will also meet with Oil Minister Jabbar al-Luaibi. 

The Kurdish PM is set to meet other leaders today.

Current and former heads and leaders of states and governments from more than 60 countries and nations are attending the 48th Davos.

They are courted by more than 1,700 leaders of business and industry.

The event runs from Tuesday through Friday.
