Refugees rescue anti-immigrants politician in Germany after car accident
MAINZ, Germany – Stefan Jagsch, a neo-Nazi politician in Germany, was saved after a serious car accident by a group of Syrian refugees who happened to be passing by.
The refugees immediately rushed to the rescue following the accident in the German town of Bündingen, near Frankfurt.
Jagsch, a National Democratic Party of Germany (NPD) politician, had collided with a tree after swerving off the road. The rescuers managed to pull the severely injured politician from the wrecked car and applied first aid.
According to Germany’s Bild Zeitung newspaper, the Neo-Nazi politician suffered two broken legs and a cut on his face as a result of the accident. His party colleague Jean Christoph Fiedler told the Frankfurter Rundschau that the Syrian refugees had “likely performed a very good, humane deed.”
Syrian and other refugees and immigrants who have been landing in large numbers in Germany and some other European countries have come under pressure in the European public eye and media following a gang assault on women and robberies in Cologne that were blamed on the new arrivals.
Neo-Nazi and other right-wing parties have been staunchly opposed to refugees and immigrants being accepted into Europe, especially from Syria and other Muslim countries.
Jagsch, 29, had been the Neo-Nazi’s lead candidate for the recent local elections in Hesse, one of Germany’s 16 federal states. He often attracted attention from social media users with harsh attacks against refugees, calling the integration of migrants into German society a “genocide.”
Although the NPD is a small fringe party, it has gained a considerable amount of votes in the recent local elections in Hesse, particularly because of the recent refugee crisis, which the party blames on German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
