KRAMATORSK, Ukraine - Russian forces targeted a Ukrainian army position, damaging civilian homes in the western city of Kramatorsk at least twice on Thursday, using a ballistic missile and a drone.
Residents of the targeted area in the city are frightened, but they have been living with this fear for three years.
“My window broke again. I had it fixed some time ago. I asked a company to come and fix it, and now I have to replace the window again,” Tamara Miakushko, a resident of the city, told Rudaw.
For three hours after the incident, due to the possibility of continued attacks, security forces and firefighters were unable to enter the building. There was material damage, but no serious injuries.
“The explosion was around 10:30 [am]. The windows at the back of the houses broke. I was drinking tea at the time,” said another resident who did not want to be identified for security reasons.
Despite American efforts to broker a ceasefire, Russia and Ukraine continue to attack each other. In addition to attacks on eastern Ukraine, last night Russia directed 200 drones toward the Kirovohrad region, injuring ten people, including four children. This morning, Ukraine targeted a Russian military airport.
More than 12,000 civilians have been killed since Russia launched its military campaign against Ukraine in February 2022. An estimated 3.7 million Ukrainians have been displaced internally, while around 6.1 million have sought refuge in Europe and beyond, according to United Nations data.
