“That is not a possibility, that will quite happen, as far as the provision of F-16s,” MP Sviatoslav Yurash told Rudaw’s Nma Nabas, emphasizing his confidence in global support for the war-torn country.
Since the beginning of Russia’s war on Ukraine in February last year, the West has provided military assistance to assist Kyiv to help defend its territory. Ukraine has asked for more military assistance, especially in the form of F-16 warplanes.
Yurash said Kyiv is grateful for the West’s support, but that even if the military assistance ends, Ukraine will still be able to defend itself.
“We are fighting for our country. No matter what the condition, we are defending our country,” he said.
Iran is accused of providing military assistance and selling drones to Russia, accusations Tehran vehemently denies. But Yurash said they have evidence that Iran is involved in “terrorizing” Ukraine.
“Iran has denied doing that [selling drones to Russia], but we see plenty of evidence that it is there and they are terrorizing our country,” he said.
Over 7,000 civilians have been killed since the start of the war and more than 40,000 buildings have collapsed, according to the UN.
Ukraine is planning a counter-offensive, but is not revealing details.
“Ukraine has shown the ability to liberate vast areas around the capital... The continuation of that is happening, it is not just a plan,” said Yurash.
