KRG delegation attends economic forum in Greece

DELPHI, Greece - A delegation from the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), led by Deputy PM Qubad Talabani, is attending an economic forum in the Greek ancient city of Delphi. They have met with foreign officials.

The seventh edition of Delphi Economic Forum began on Wednesday, lasting for four days. It takes place in the Greek ancient city of Delphi. Leaders around the world discuss political, cultural and economic issues.

This is the first time a KRG delegation attends the event.

Daban Shadala, a member of KRG delegation and deputy head of Department of Foreign Relations, told Rudaw on Friday that they have held meetings with several Greek officials.

“We were able to meet with the Greek Prime Minister’s political and security advisor and minister of digital government (e-government). Today we met with the tourism minister and we will later meet with the deputy tourism minister in order to work together more closely and benefit from Greece’s experience as its income heavily relies on tourism and shipping,” he said.

Talabani is expected to speak at the event on Saturday.

Symeon Tsomokos, founder and president of the forum, told Rudaw that they aim to “ promote our cooperation in the region - that we have better relations with Turkey, that we have better relations in the Mediterranean, that we see the west of the Balkans join the European Union one day.”
