President Barzani attends UAE national day reception
ERBIL, Kurdistan Region - Kurdistan Region President Nechirvan Barzani on Saturday attended a reception in Dubai hosted by President of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan celebrating the Arab country’s national day.
President Barzani congratulated Al Nahyan and the Emirati people on the occasion, and wished them “continued success and progress,” according to a statement from the Kurdistan Region Presidency.
“Congratulations to the UAE leadership and people on their remarkable achievements and development as a nation,” Barzani wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
The celebration in the country that is hosting a global climate conference took place under the theme “A journey towards a sustainable tomorrow.”
“As a nation we will continue to commemorate our heritage, take pride in our identity and strive for a just, prosperous and sustainable future for all,” Al Nahyan posted on X.
Barzani arrived in Dubai on Thursday to attend the 28th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), the UN’s annual climate summit where dozens of world leaders gather with business and civil society representatives to discuss one of the greatest challenges facing the planet.
He has met several world leaders and officials over the past three days, including the United Kingdom’s King Charles III, United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
“The importance of united efforts and global cooperation to protect our planet cannot be overstated,” Barzani said on X on Friday.
